Fabless Semiconductor Association to Host Luncheon Panel on Low Power Design at 2004 FSA Suppliers Expo Taiwan
TAIPEI, Taiwan—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Nov. 2, 2004—
The Fabless Semiconductor Association (FSA), the voice
of the global fabless business model, announces today the Association
will host an industry panel and luncheon during its 2004 FSA Suppliers
Expo Taiwan focused on challenges and collaboration opportunities for
low-power IC design. The luncheon panel will take place on November
11, 2004 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Taipei International
Convention Center in Taipei, Taiwan.
A major focus for the semiconductor industry is designing
components that consume less power. Concerns over battery life,
packaging costs and product reliability are driving industry leaders
to look at better ways to manage semiconductor power consumption. The
panel will feature leaders in the silicon design chain who will share
their unique perspectives on the business ramification of power
management and technical approaches to addressing the issue of low
power design.
Mike Clendenin, Bureau Chief, Taiwan/China, EE Times, will
moderate the panel. Participants include:
-- Christopher Chun, advanced power management system architect,
Freescale
-- Richard Williams, Engineering Manager, Foundry Program & Camb
Core Implementation, ARM
-- Genda Hu, vice president of marketing, Taiwan Semiconductor
Manufacturing Company (TSMC)
-- Dan Weed, corporate vice president of ICD, Cadence
"Power consumption has been a collective concern for semiconductor
companies as we enter the mobile era, and we are pleased to
incorporate the low power design panel into our 2004 FSA Suppliers
Expo Taiwan," stated Dr. Jeremy Wang, Asia-Pacific executive director
of the FSA. "This industry luncheon will bring forth the experience
and perspective of leading solution providers in the industry and
enlighten all participants."
In addition to the luncheon panel, the 2004 FSA Suppliers Expo
Taiwan, co-organized by the Taiwan External Trade Development Council
(TAITRA), will provide an exhibition offering attendees the
opportunity to see the latest tools, services and state-of-the-art
technologies from suppliers to the fabless segment. The day's events
will also include the Semiconductor Leaders Forum, with a keynote by
Dr. Morris Chang, founder, chairman and CEO of TSMC.
Attendance for the FSA Technology Forum and Luncheon: Low Power
Design Chain is $1,000 NT. On-line pre-registration for the 2004 FSA
Suppliers Expo Taiwan is complimentary, and on-site registration is
$100 NT. On-site registration for the Expo begins at 8:00 a.m., and
the show floor opens at 9:00 a.m.
The 2004 FSA Suppliers Expo Taiwan platinum sponsors include Agile
Software, ASE Group, Cadence, DigiTimes, TSMC and UMC.
